đźšż The Clean Water Crisis in Sri Lanka

In many parts of rural Sri Lanka, communities still depend on polluted rivers, aging wells, and seasonal rain for drinking water. Without clean water and proper toilets, families face daily health risks—especially children.

Nearth is working to change that—one village at a time.

đź’§ Our Approach to Water & Sanitation

We take a community-first approach that includes:

  • Installing gravity-fed water systems and tube wells
  • Distributing low-cost water filters to households
  • Building hygienic toilets and washing stations for schools
  • Running awareness programs on personal hygiene and menstrual health

With local volunteers and engineers, we ensure long-term sustainability and community ownership.

🧼 Hygiene is Health

Clean water for all - Nearth

Access to clean water isn’t just about drinking. It’s also essential for:

  • Washing hands to prevent the spread of disease
  • Ensuring dignity and safety for women and girls
  • Allowing children to focus in school instead of walking miles for water

Our recent project in Medirigiriya delivered safe water access to 38 households and a village school, cutting water-borne illnesses by 60%.
